Bargaining Updates

The University and SWC met for the first time since March and agreed to future meetings. Because the union continued to focus predominantly on several issues beyond the scope of a collective bargaining agreement, the parties did not make meaningful progress in the session itself.

The University attended the scheduled bargaining session at the scheduled time and place, attempted unsuccessfully to persuade SWC to stay and bargain when the union arrived late, and remains ready to finalize an agreement that benefits all.

The following response was shared with the SWC Bargaining Committee regarding posts falsely alleging the University canceled a bargaining session scheduled for October 6.

With the current contract expired, the University has proposed extending the contract for one year while negotiations continue for a longer-term successor contract; extension proposal includes implementing the University’s June 9 compensation offer.

The SWC again did not attend scheduled negotiations. The University has provided a compensation proposal, after previously sharing a complete set of non-economic and benefits proposals, with no response from the union.

The SWC did not attend scheduled negotiations and still has not provided any contract proposals or responded to the University’s proposals.

Session canceled at the union’s request.
